Blue Angel Rv Park - We recently stayed at a wonderful military campground in Pensacola, Florida: Blue Angel Naval Recreation Area, also known as Blue Angel Park. It is operated by Pensacola Naval Air Station, but is actually 9 miles outside the back gate of the NAS and just before Hwy 98 from the Lillian Hwy bridge to Alabama.
There are two separate camping areas along the north shore of beautiful Perdido Bay: Battleship Row and Anchor Cove, as well as a mobile home rental section.
Blue Angel Rv Park
Both camping areas have toilets and laundry facilities. Although they don't offer cable or internet, Dish satellite and Verizon hotspot worked fine in the Battleship Row section.

One of the great things about this campground is the variety of activities. They have a 35 acre wooded paintball course (weekends only), three 18 hole disc golf championship courses, mini golf, playgrounds, a beautiful beach, many hiking trails and several geocaches. Blue Angel Outpost Marina has kayaks, paddle boards and sailboats for hourly rentals. They even offer small boat sailing courses by reservation from April to September.

The closest coastal area on the Gulf of Mexico is Perdido Key. It's only a 20-minute drive from the national beach and Perdido Key State Park, as well as public beach access. Pensacola Beach is actually an hour's drive away.
There we visited Uncle Sandy's Macaw Bird Park, a rescue and sanctuary for parrots. Admission is $5.00 for adults (13+) and $2.00 for children and includes a cup of peanuts to feed the birds. The money goes directly to helping these beautiful birds and educating people about the demands of parrot ownership, the parrot lifestyle and providing them with the necessities to keep them happy and healthy. You'll have the opportunity to handle an exotic bird one-on-one and enter the largest open flight in the Florida Panhandle.
